Even though we’re living through a global pandemic, people are hungry to connect, and they’re taking to Eventbrite to search for and discover a variety of events each week. We’re always intrigued by what we find. Here’s a look at what consumers across the U.S. searched for on Eventbrite last week (between Oct. 16 – Oct. 23):
Consumers are dying to find a Halloween event to attend this year
As the holiday looms ahead of us this weekend, it’s a treat to see that searches for Halloween related events on Eventbrite increased 50% compared to the week before. And Americans are looking to be tricked, searching for spooky events like ghost tours, house of horror, and virtual zombie walks/runs. When looking at which cities had the most Halloween spirit, Chicago ranked #1 with the most searches for Halloween related events, followed by San Francisco and Los Angeles in third.
Americans muted their usual searches and tuned into politics last week
We saw an increase in Donald Trump related searches last week, right on cue with the last presidential debate on Thursday. Compared to our analysis ahead of the first debate on Oct. 15, searches doubled last week, with Americans looking for search terms like debate watch party. With only eight days until Election Day, maybe Americans felt the need to tune in, or maybe it was the muted mic functionality.
Searches for outdoor events was trending in New York City, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia
Before U.S. consumers hibernate for the winter, they’re scouring Eventbrite to find an outdoor event to attend. In an attempt to get outside and be social while maintaining their social distance, they’re searching for outdoor yoga, concerts, drive-ins, and fitness classes.
Stay tuned for what next week will bring!
