Valentines Day is fast approaching. For those who are in a relationship, this holiday is most commonly associated with candlelit dinners, flowers, and romance.

However, if you don’t fall into that category, there’s still plenty to celebrate! Here are our five top ideas for an alternative Valentines night:

Plan a (Matchmaking) Party
Host a get together at your home (or in a local bar, if you want to cast the net wider) inviting all the single people you know. If you want to get serious on the matchmaking front, use Eventbrite’s custom questions feature to clarify the relationship status of attendees when they register.  Include some ice breaking games in the evening’s itinerary to get people mixing!

Get Competitive at a Pub Quiz
Quiz nights are a great outlet for your competitive streak, and can be a fun way to meet some new people. If general knowledge is your forte, you might even leave with a prize to show for your efforts!

Find a Local Speed Dating Event
For a guaranteed giggle, get a group together and head to your closest speed dating event. Keep your expectations low and your sense of humour with you at all times and you’ll be sure to have fun, whether or not you leave with a phone full of new numbers.

Host a Movie Night (Rom-Coms Not Obligatory)
Not in the mood for going out? A great excuse for a film night! Pop some corn, invite some buddies over and pick out a movie. Why not buck the seasonal trend and find a horror or an action film to keep you entertained?

Feed Your Brain
If Valentines really isn’t your thing, there’s always the option of forgetting about it entirely and enriching your soul by visiting a gallery or museum you’ve been wanting to check out.  Or find a lecture on a topic that interests you – take a look on Eventbrite to find one happening near you!
