Service Update

Update: The issue is officially under control.  We are now working with our service providers to prevent this from happening again.  Obviously, we regret the loss of service and we deeply appreciate the patience and supportive responses we’ve received from our customers.  We sincerely feel your pain!

Original Post: At midnight PT Eventbrite experienced a malicious DOS (denial of service) attack.  Because of this attack, our service was unavailable.  We responded immediately and our entire team is working on this issue diligently as I type.

We appreciate your patience and I will post an update when we have a final resolution.

Forbes.com

What do a Pets.com sock puppet and the original PayPal business plan have in common?  Why, they both live on our CEO’s desk…duh! Forbes.com wanted to know about 2 things that Kevin values in his office* and why. (*If by “office” they mean small desk set in the middle of our open floor plan)  To find out why Kevin would bother to keep these items on his already cramped desk, read on.  Bonus if you spot the Eventbrite mascot in the published team photo!

Hotel room rates so low you’ll be shocked

hotelsIt’s common wisdom that things are supposed to get cheaper as you buy more of them.  Volume discounts, I think they call them.  In hotel economics, volume doesn’t mean a longer stay.  It means booking lots of rooms per night.  Eventholders who need to book lodging for their events are encouraged to check out a new hotel group rate booking tool, provided in partnership with HotelPlanner.com.  Unlike most hotel booking websites, that cap off at 4 rooms per night, HotelPlanner.com lets you get access to exclusive group rates that are normally only available directly from hotel sales managers.  Providing this unique online access to otherwise inaccessible hotel rates is … Continue Reading

3/31/2009

It’s always great to be nominated for an award. You get to be a part of a group that includes others who, like yourself, have been elevated by the distinction of being nominated for an award. And from there you have a chance to be the one who gets to go up on stage and get photographed. Ain’t nothing wrong with that.

Eventbrite has been selected as a finalist by the editors of CNET for the 2009 Webware 100 awards! To win all we need to do is have the most votes. Simple. Because we like a challenge, we thought we’d … Continue Reading
