Unchained Mothering

Unchained Mothering is a non-profit organization founded by Jessica de Vreeze in March 2022, which officially obtained 501(c)(3) status in September 2023. Through art, this organization has a mission to unite people and contribute to social justice by bringing the invisible aspects of women’s lives into the spotlight. It aims to give voice to women, providing them with a renewed freedom of choice, while shedding light on their often-overlooked contributions and advocating for true gender equality. Jessica's mantra, 'Freedom comes when you give yourself permission to choose freely,' and “it’s not because you can that you should,” encapsulates the essence of Unchained Mothering.

While an exhibition is in the making, Unchained Mothering seizes all opportunities to empower through education, health, sports, ecology, and many other avenues, allowing everyone to grow while raising funds for the art exhibition. Collaborating with artists worldwide ensures diverse representation across artistic disciplines. The project's inaugural exhibition focuses on women who have sacrificed their professional lives to care for their families full-time. These women often sacrifice status, financial stability, and social recognition. In today's society, homemakers are frequently forgotten and overlooked, despite their vital role in nurturing families and communities.

Jessica and the Unchained Mothering team envisions a future where women are celebrated and valued for who they are. If they choose to become mothers, they should have the opportunity to pursue alternate roles, such as stay-at-home mothers or corporate and world leaders, with equal validity and opportunity.
