The Relative Caregiver Program w/WRAP
In January 2023 Wo/Men's Rape & Resource Assistance Program picked up a new wing of service unrelated to domestic violence and sexual assault through the Tennessee Department of Children's Services' Relative Caregiver Program grant. With this grant WRAP is able to reach out to the West Tennessee community with total wrap-around services by including families raising their relatives' children. The purpose of this program is to provide support and case management to families throughout the many levels of the assimilation process through a lens of care that understands challenges, trauma and stressors in a different way from other services. In other words, we help families navigate and adapt in hopes of building the best possible future for every child and family. This monthly family support group, we've learned, is the biggest benefit offered as it builds a lifelong network of support for families. It is a place where Caregivers build relationships & find support in other Caregivers like them who have this unique family dynamic and children are able to connect and socialize with other children who have faced similar experiences.
Although it is not required for one to be a participant in the program to attend monthly support group, some of the other benefits of being in the program, if eligible, include:
Case Management that assist families with navigating the judicial, educational, community & child welfare systems.
Enrichment activities that occur quarterly.
Educational Workshops that are meaningful to your unique subset of interests offered quarterly.
Respite services safe, fun outings for children that offer the Caregiver respite once quarterly.
Emergency and Start-up Financial Assistance opportunities and possible monthly stipends for eligible participants.
