The Rattling Kind

The Rattling Kind are an Irish folk rock collective and the musical project of the founding member Eddie Sherlock. A Dublin-born singer/songwriter Eddie grew up on Dublin’s north-side, surrounded by music and a strong tradition of family performance,

A late starter to picking up the guitar, after learning a few chords it wasn’t until his twenties that he realised he hold a note. With that he took to the ground running, and wasn’t before long he found himself performing widely on the Dublin pub scene.

Drawing influences from the likes of, The Dubliners, The Furey's, Bob Marley, Aslan & Damien Dempsey, the Dublin native soon started to explore and develop his own songwriting and with the help of some friends, embarked on putting together a band called ‘The Rattling Kind’. In 2013, after recording their debut EP ‘Rise Up’, two tracks from the EP were used in the soundtrack of the world-wide DVD release of RTE’s hit crime drama ‘Love/Hate’.

The band subsequently performed their cult favourite ‘All Around the Town’, on the ‘Saturday Night Show Live’ with Brendan O’Connor. In 2016 Eddie was invited to perform an original song ‘James Connolly’s Dream’ as part of the James Connolly Centenary for Uachtaran na hEireann, and has appeared with ‘The Rattling Kind’ on Irish TV show ‘Mad for Sam’ in that same year. The song is currently in the top 20 of the Irish iTunes top 100 traditional single charts.

Since the release of the EP, The Rattling Kind have been listened to by audiences across the globe, from America to Australia. “King of the Road” been a lockdown project success, has now reached 5 million stream on Spotify, and over 4 million views across social platforms, with a steady growing monthly Spotify listener ship of 70k+.

The song currently sits in the top 3 of the UK Apple Music traditional folk charts.

In March 2023, Eddie was invited over to Australia, to headline at the Irish Aboriginal Hand in Hand Festival, in Fremantle Perth, as part of the festival he had to pen a song called “Cailin Rua” a sad but true love story of an Irish Doctor & an Aboriginal lady whom together had a child with red hair. After the festival he set off on a month long “Road Trip Tour" of Australia, playing to packed audiences across the continent in Perth, Sydney & Brisbane.

The new album features a full band version of “King of the Road” and also a recording of the cult favourite “All Around the Town” this time featuring two of Dublins finest, the late Christy Dignam & Damien Dempsey. The song was recorded in June 2022, sadly enough this was the last track Christy Dignam ever recorded on.

The band launched to re-release to All Around the Town to a sold out in Dublins iconic Button Factory.
