Sonoma Valley Authors Festival 501(c)(3)non-profit
The Sonoma Valley Authors Festival's mission is to "Stimulate the Minds and Nurture the Souls of Readers." We do this by holding a three-day annual Festival in Sonoma, CA, that has four parts and and reaches thousands of community members:
*The 3-day Festival, held at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, features about 20 authors and speakers who give 1-hour presentations. Authors are from genres including fiction, non-fiction, biography, history, mystery, and poetry. Speakers from science, technology, and medicine haven't necessarily written a book, yet have a fascinating TED-type-talk. The event space holds about 400 attendees.
*Students Day is held at local high schools and middle schools on the Friday of the Festival where over 2,700 young scholars hear about 8 authors and speakers who motivate and inspire them. Thousands of the presenting authors' books are given away to the students for free, all paid for with donations to the Festival. Students can have their books signed by the authors and ask them questions and have their photos taken with them.
*Authors on the Plaza is held on the Saturday of the Festival on the beautiful 8-acre town square covered with a grassy lawn and towering trees. It is family-friendly and free. Three of the Festival authors talk about their books, followed by book sales from our local bookstore and book signing by the authors. Over 1,100 participated in 2023.
*About a week after the Festival is over, The Virtual Festival, which is all of the videorecorded presentations from the 3-day weekend, is available online 24/7 on any electronic device for 30 days. It is free to Festival attendees and for a small fee to anyone else worldwide.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity, all events are made possible through donations and sponsorhip purchases. The founders take no salary, the organization has no employees and uses contractors and volunteers as needed to minimize expenses.
