N. Suburban Dallas Chapter-Jack & Jill of America

WHO WE ARE

Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated (JJOA), founded in January 1938, is a membership organization of mothers with children ages 2-19, dedicated to nurturing future African-American leaders by strengthening children through leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving and civic duty. Today, Jack and Jill boasts 262 chapters nationwide, representing more than 70,000 family members, each chapter plans annual programming activities under the national theme: The Power to Make a Difference, For All Children On Mission. On Purpose. Through service projects, JJOA creates a medium of contact for all children to stimulate their growth and development.  Through lobbying, educational programming, dissemination of education materials, and the organization of community and charitable events, Jack and Jill has promoted the public awareness and interests of children including child development, child growth, child quality of life, child care and the promotion of children’s rights.

Since 1982, the North Suburban Dallas (NSD) Chapter has pursued its passion to give back and make a difference in the community in which we live. The families in the chapter have logged thousands of hours of service in the cities of Dallas, Plano, Frisco, Richardson and Allen and have hosted and volunteered in events and programs such as the March of Dimes, Minnie's Food Pantry, Boys and Girls Club - Plano Branch (Douglass Community), LovePacs Plano, North Texas Food Bank, City House and Samaritan Inn homeless shelters, Collin County Advocacy Center, Hope's Door, Emily's Place and Buckner's International Shoes for Orphan Souls to name a few.  From our inception, all that we do is centered around and for children (ours and the community).  To this end, the 73 Chapter mothers strive to ensure multifaceted activities and initiatives embrace the holistic enrichment of our youth and our communities and resonate within our national theme as we have the power to make a difference for all children.
