International speaker, media guest, and five-time author, Lori Vann is a highly regarded mental health authority. Having given almost 300 media interviews for outlets all over the world, she is seen as a "go to" person when behavioral health stories make headlines. She is not only a professional who speaks, she truly is a professional speaker having spoken to audiences all over the globe from Australia to Canada to Mexico. Her authentic style of presenting the information in an easily understood format has made her an audience favorite and a repeat guest on many stages.

For over twenty years, she has been on a mission as a Global Authority in the prevention and treatment of Non-Suicidal Self-Injury to turn the tide on the epidemic that is closely correlated to suicide and other unhealthy coping mechanisms. Her experiences working at psychiatric hospitals, the non-profit sector, an outpatient clinic, and her own private practice located in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, has led to her founding the Institute for Non-Suicidal Self-Injury. She has trained thousands of individuals on her widely regarded techniques.

In addition, she enjoys coaching other health professionals on topics such as business development and what they didn't tell you in graduate school. Many of her talks on real-world ethics in the counseling field, stress management, boundary setting, and NSSI are becoming online, downloadable courses. In her spare time, she is writing two books and a course on perfectionism—one for students and one for adults.

She is a graduate of Pepperdine University where she received with honors her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and is a graduate of Chapman University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Arts degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling.
