Ho'ala Na Kanaka

Our vision is to Mālama Kekahi i kekahi me ka hō’ā mālama. Strengthening indigenous identity as a community to thrive in adversities sustainably through skill-sets, self-sovereignty and healing.

The program, called Ho'ala Na Kanaka, means either a pathway for indigenous kanaka maoli or awaken indigneous kanaka maoli - both are similar in metaphor and journey and we embrace both meanings.

Ho’āla na kānaka focuses on the development of cultural classes, mālama kupuna, mālama ‘ike, and connection to state & county resources.

  • Cultural classes are available live & online for Native Hawaiian makua and their keiki.
  • Goals to create interest, practice for preservation and succession plans for Kumu to Haumana.
  • Connect mākua to state and county resources such as financial assistance, grants, medical assistance, housing, etc.
