Friends of Peabody Dog Park
Friends of Peabody Dog Park first formed in 2013 and began working with Mayor Ted Bettencourt and Jennifer Davis, Parks and Recreation Director, to identify a suitable location for a dog park. After securing our 501c3 designation, we began several small fundraising initiatives to cover the costs of designing and building a dog park. In 2014, we held our first dog festival fundraiser at Corbeil Park in West Peabody, a site initially targeted for the dog park. However, flooding and drainage challenges forced the city to identify another location. In 2016, the City of Peabody selected Emerson Park as the official site of Peabody’s first off-leash dog park. Later that same year, the City applied for and was awarded a dog park grant through the , an organization that supports the development of enclosed dog parks in Massachusetts cities and towns. In April 2017, the City of Peabody selected landscape architecture firm to design the Peabody Dog Park.
