Dante Alighieri Society of Charleston
The Dante Alighieri Society is a society founded in Italy in 1889. The Society promotes Italian culture and language around the world, with chapters in 60 countries .
The Charleston chapter was founded in 2017 by Donatella della Porta. Frequent events are held in various Charleston venues, featuring Italian art, history, design, cuisine, music, scientific research, and language. Italian language instruction is also available. The Dante Alighieri Society of Charleston commissioned the volume Italians in the Lowcountry by Christina R. Butler, available for purchase at The Hidden Countship boutique at 21 Burns Lane.
