Aphra Behn Society

The mission of the Aphra Behn Society of Canterbury is to get Aphra Behn's work, life and times celebrated by a wide audience and locate her in Canterbury where she was born and grew up, so as to make her once again a household name. It is hoped that with this mission, the name Aphra Behn will attract tourists to Canterbury city and contribute to its already rich historical literary and artistic seam, and draws more people to the city from all over the world. The Aphra Behn Society organises events such as lectures, readings, theatrical events from Aphra Behn's works and musical events from her times with trips and walks relating to her life.
