Today we’re thrilled to announce our partnership with ASCAP, The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers. ASCAP is a membership organization of songwriters, composers and publishers, and provides a livelihood for its members by licensing their compositions and distributing royalties. With more than a quarter of Eventbrite’s music event organizers being musicians themselves, artist rights is an important initiative to our organizers and Eventbrite.

How to Make Your Show Stand Out

Musicians and songwriters are the heart and soul of any music event, and with the changing dynamics of the music industry, the live performance has become increasingly important to the longevity of these artists’ careers. In fact, more than 80% of our own music organizers agree or strongly agree that playing live shows increases the likelihood of an artist growing his/her fan base. What’s more is that 85% agree or strongly agree that technology is helping today’s musician succeed and we are seeing this come to life on our platform. Many independent artists are using  Eventbrite to make money sharing their craft by ticketing their own shows, giving music lessons, or hosting meet and greets before and after their performances.

To continue helping indie artists find performance opportunities, Eventbrite is sponsoring the ASCAP Expo Attendee Showcase on May 1, 2015 and has reserved one performance slot for an Eventbrite artist. The nomination process will be open soon, so be sure to check back for more information and exciting opportunities to come!
