Dave Chappelle is a hard man to pin down. There’s his comedy: edgy, impossible to categorize, and not afraid to voice things other comics are scared to even think. And then there’s Chappelle himself, famous for skipping town—well, continent—just as his massively successful Comedy Central sketch series “Chappelle’s Show” hit its peak. The trend has continued in his stand-up career, with performances often shrouded in secrecy. So it’s safe to say that if you’re in the Bay Area and can ride a BART train to see Dave, you shouldn’t wait around for next time.
That opportunity comes this weekend, as Chappelle brings his decidedly NSF-this-blog-post act to Oakland’s hip New Parish club for a three-night stand. The comedian will perform two shows per night (at 8 and 11 P.M.) on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and tickets for the weekend shows are available now online exclusively through Eventbrite. What he’ll say—and where he’ll be come Sunday—only Dave knows.
