Young Writers Guild of New Orleans

The Young Writers Guild of New Orleans provides opportunities for boys and girls in the Greater New Orleans area to explore their interest in writing and to collaborate with other young writers. These opportunities include various writing workshops, contests, group activities, and exposure to the local professional writing community.

Christina Taix, the founder of the Young Writers Guild of New Orleans, is a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans and has been an English teacher at Archbishop Chapelle High School since 2000. In addition to teaching a full range of standard English classes, she is the yearbook and newspaper moderator and teaches a creative writing course for the ACHS Summer Camp.  It was through these experiences that she saw a need for children to have an earlier introduction into writing as a creative outlet and not as a chore.  Thus, YWGNO was born.
