World on Stage was founded in 2002 by Subhash Malhotra. The intent was to present life-enriching world music and dance concerts in the Greater Boston area to expose the richness of our national diversity.

Initially, World on Stage presented such major talent as the multi-Grammy winner Tito Puente, Israel s most famous female singer Chava Alberstein, Europe s king of brass bands the famous gypsy Boban Markovic Orchestra, Voices of Africa, and others. The concept of the World on Stage has since changed. Presently the focus is to showcase more of the newer and exciting younger performers on the world music stage today.

Mr. Malhotra also founded and produced the Boston International Festival in 1991 for schools and the general public. This was later expanded to International Festivals in seven cities (Boston, Chicago, Providence, Edison, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Detroit) drawing hundreds of thousands of students, teachers, and the general public. They became the largest school field trip program and multicultural presentation in the United States. He discontinued these Festivals in 2001, after 9/11, to avoid risks associated with large crowds in major indoor venues.

Mr. Malhotra also founded Learning on Stage in 2001, focused on educational performances in foreign languages for middle and high school students. In the early 2000 s Learning on Stage presented over 100 performances annually in 20 states.

Mr. Malhotra s various productions in the last 27 years have been attended by well over 3 million attendees.
