The Museum of Contemporary Phenomena

The Museum of Contemporary Phenomena explores extraordinary moments in society, those instances where people, ideas, and events converge around an urgent question. It is a public forum for problem solving that is at its apex when enlivened with a cacophony of diverse and conflicting points of view.  Our goal is to increase awareness of, and provide strategies for addressing the central issues of our contemporary age.

To this end, we design interactive environments to nurture and promote discourse about pivotal topics that define and challenge our society.  These investigations and interchanges create the space for us to connect with others struggling with the same questions, and help us try to make sense of the key cultural and social issues of our time: nuclear technology, the erosion of our social safety net, the phenomena of fear, and housing (in)security in the age of foreclosure.

Our inquiries engage people directly, soliciting their personal responses to the question at hand, and collecting a spectrum of narratives of how the issues affect people at an individual level. In this respect, our work is distinguished by being both One-on-One in its performative qualities and One-to-One by creating a human scale event and/or installation as an artifact.
