Northeastern University Center of Community Service, the Massachusetts Promise Fellowship, and the Civic Engagement Program

The Center of Community Service supports Northeastern University’s long tradition of service to the community and commitment to civic engagement. The CCS is where students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community organizations can exchange information, resources, and referrals for community service and service-learning opportunities. Through our programs and events, service-learning programs, and AmeriCorps partnerships, all members of the campus community have opportunities to contribute to the health and well-being of their surrounding environment. By engaging with the city of Boston and beyond, we draw strength for our diverse surroundings and contribute to them as a partner and resource.

The Massachusetts Promise Fellowship believes that all young people in the Commonwealth have a right to the resources that they need to be successful in life, notably, a caring adult, a safe place, a healthy start, an effective education, and an opportunity to serve. As an AmeriCorps program housed at Northeastern, the mission of MPF is to train training emerging leaders who commit one year of service in order to deliver these five promises to youth across the state. The Civic Engagement Program (CEP), aims to redefine scholarship by ensuring that students receiving Northeasten's most prestigious scholarships not only excel academically, but have the opportunity to grow as civic-minded individuals who give back through service to our local and global communities. CEP contributes to the University's mission to educate students for a life of fulfillment and accomplishment... and to meet global and societal needs.
