Lawrence Hall Associate Board
Lawrence Hall Youth Services is an outstanding child welfare agency established in 1865 that treats, educates and provides a home for children, adolescents, and young adults who face extreme challenges. Many have suffered abuse, neglect and abandonment and have no place else to turn. Lawrence Hall is a critical link in the Illinois child welfare system, caring for over 1,000 children (and their families) each year from Cook, DuPage, Lake, Kendall and McHenry counties. The Associate Board is composed of mostly young urban professionals who volunteer to spend time and mentor the children in the Residential Treatment Program. A group of volunteers is assigned to each house in the program and is responsible for taking the kids on activities on a monthly basis. Many of our volunteers are also involved in our tutoring program.
