Black Huts Festival by etruscan books
Etruscan Books grew out of the Six Towns Poetry Festival (1992-97) in Stoke on Trent, and its first book work was by Ed Dorn. Its work represents a continuum of the way of bookmaking by presses like Fulcrum, Goliard, Black Sparrow and Grosseteste.Etruscan Books has published concrete, Gaelic and modernist poetry with an ear for the lyric and the made up word. They give attention to spatiality, experiment and the lyric. The books are carefully edited, and still sewn on good papers. The books are often made as artist / writer or film maker collaborations. Since 1999, Etruscan Books has irregularly yet persistently run mini festivals in London, For The Locker and The Steerer, which has featured performers including Rachel Lichtenstein, Helen Macdonald, David Gascoyne, John Healy and Bob Cobbing. We have curated tours, readings and festivals across the British Isles, including a residency at Arnolfini and Surrey University, Bristol for the exhibition Black Mountain: Starting at Zero, 1935-1957. etruscan books runs Black Huts festival of writing, film and music in Hastings Old Town since 2012
