Bayview Opera House, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) formed in 1989 to operate the Bayview Opera House Ruth Williams Memorial Theater.

The South San Francisco Opera House, as it was  originally called,  opened on October 4, 1888 by Masonic Lodge #212, to house art performances and community gatherings.  The Bayview Opera House is one of four city-owned cultural centers operated by a local nonprofit organization providing cultural and arts programming to under-served communities in San Francisco.

The Opera House is available for rent for both public and private events, with a focus on providing affordable space to artists and arts organizations producing cultural events.

The Bayview Opera House Ruth Williams Memorial Theater is over 125 years old and  is known for being the city’s oldest opera house.

The historic building is San Francisco's  historic landmark building No. 8 and  as of April 1, 2011 was inaugurated into the National Register of Historic Places.
