Rick Sweeney

Rick is a Trained Mindfulness Facilitator through UCLA's Mindfulness Awareness Research Center (MARC) at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. He is an affiliate UCLA Mindful Awareness Practices (MAPS) teacher. He has been and is presently teaching UCLA’s MAPS courses . He is certified to teach youth through Mindful Schools. Rick is also a Certified Mindfulness Teacher-Professional level (CMT-P) by the I.M.T.A.

Rick started Mindfulness Meditation practice in 2006 to reduce stress and improve his health. He quickly discovered positive changes in his practice and wanted to share practices and possibilities with others. He regularly attends workshops and classes to enhance his knowledge and skills. His own meditation practice includes annual silent retreats, including a month-long silent retreat.

He has shared Mindfulness with adults and middle/high school students and has a long history of giving back to others, This includes work as a fundraiser and volunteer high school and elementary school teacher for two charitable organizations. Rick has two Bachelor's degrees; one is in Economics and the other in Political Science. He is the proud father of three children. Rick has used the same Mentor/Guiding Teacher since 2008.
