Myra Davis Hemmings Resource Center, Inc.

Like several San Antonio institutions , the “YMCA” located on the Eastside, discontinued its programming by 1970. And like many houses in the San Antonio area, the building deteriorated and was vandalized. The house at 328 North Pine Street remained vacant until 1980 when the members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority purchased the building, which sat on four city-owned lots. They acquired the property on July 27, 1981, secured $300,000 in Community Development Grants for the restoration project, and on September 7, 1986 a formal building dedication occurred.

Today, the Myra Davis Hemmings Resource Center, Inc. (MDHRC) is managed by a Board of Directors and has a 501 (c)(3) designation. The Board of Directors are responsible for raising funds to preserve the historic property and provide scholarships. The facility is available for community programming, church events, and other non-profit organizations seeking to host their meetings. The facility includes a living room, dining room, kitchen, office, two meeting rooms (large auditorium and board room), two full bathrooms, a library, elevator. The building is handicap accessible, and has Wi-Fi. For more information how to host your next event, contact us at mdhrcsat@yahoo.com .
