Since starting the podcast, she has been able to interview authors, playwrights, photographers, and so many more amazing people who have contributed to the growing presence of Cambodia’s history. With international listeners all over the world, the podcast was featured on CBS, South China Morning Post, PBS and more! Dr. Sochanvimean: Born and raised in Cambodia, Sochanvimean had a unique upbringing that shaped his journey to becoming a psychologist. Growing up, he had experienced the aftermath of the Khmer Rouge regime and witnessed the trauma and emotional pain that many Cambodians had to endure. This ignited a passion within him to help others heal and find inner peace. Sochanvimean started his journey of becoming a psychologist in 2004, when he was frequently made fun of for majoring in psychology, he followed his instinct anyway. As he worked towards his degree in psychology, he also drew inspiration from his parents who instilled in him the importance of kindness and compassion towards others despite having very little for themselves. Their teachings encouraged him to approach his work with deep empathy and understanding for both himself and others. As he continues to work as a psychologist, he is passionate about raising awareness of mental health issues in the Khmer/ Asian community, and improving access to care for those in need. His journey has been filled with challenges and obstacles, but his taught and accumulated resilience and dedication have enabled him to continue to support the community. He is currently a licensed psychologist with a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology working in Santa Barbara.
