Obibini Pictures presents a two-night cinematic celebration spotlighting Howard University’s emerging filmmakers on April 30 alongside MFA alumni filmmakers on May 1.
From classroom to big screen, the showcase bridges Undergraduate Directing for Film & TV Shorts (Class of 2026), MFA filmmakers, the Howard University Film Organization (HUFO), and alumni in a curated festival experience that honors Howard’s cinematic legacy while fostering future creative community in Washington, D.C.
Hosted at the historic Miracle Theatre, Black Light invites audiences to experience powerful short films, conversations, and community in a setting that connects Howard’s filmmaking tradition to the wider landscape of Black independent cinema.

Contributions for the charitable purposes of Black Light must be made payable to “Fractured Atlas” and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Proceeds support the development of independent Black cinema spaces in Washington, D.C. This showcase is independently produced by Professor Akosua Adoma Owusu and Obibini Pictures in collaboration with Howard University students.
