Creator, host Sue Scott is a veteran actor, who for 24 years was the female cast member on the public radio show A Prairie Home Companion. Since 2019, Sue has been thoroughly immersed in producing Island of Discarded Women live show & podcast. Special guest Rose McGee,founder of the Sweet Potato Comfort Pie Organization, is one of Minnesota’s 50 Over 50, and an author and facilitator whose ‘baketivism’ began in 2014 after she was inspired to bake and deliver 30 pies to those standing up for justice in Ferguson, MO following the killing of Michael Brown. Since then, her organization has been delivering comfort pies around the country to those impacted by racial trauma with what Rose calls ‘the sacred dessert of Black culture.’ Sweet Potato Comfort Pie uses creative forms of connection-building to create change. Musical guests Katy Vernon and her band Favourite Girl are proudly feminist and bold. They will be performing new songs all about women empowerment! And British-born singer/songwriter Katy Vernon, the "ukulele songbird," will share 2 powerful personal songs and the stories that inspired them.

“Island of Discarded Women…a popular happening dedicated to the idea that women’s voices must be heard.” --Chris Hewitt, Star Tribune
