New Primitives was founded in Minneapolis in 2003 by drummer, singer, songwriter Stanley Kipper. They are four-time Best Reggae Artist/Group Minnesota Music Award recipients. The band has played with the Ziggy, Stephen, and Damian Marley bands and Stan’s band in California opened for the Wailers on their first West Coast tour after Bob’s death. New Primitives' first two records, New Primitives and American Nomads, received nationwide airplay including top ten chart positions across America and Canada. Stan recently signed a three-record deal for New Primitives with Loud Folk Records and the first album will be out in late spring/early summer, 2024.
