Leading with Influence: New Foundations for Sustainable Change
Session 2: Mental Health
New Zealand faces many significant mental health-related challenges. Stress and burnout in the workplace are now common place, our domestic violence rates are some of the highest in the world, our children are faced with an increasingly uncertain and changing world, and events such as the Christchurch Earthquakes have left many people on both sides of the coin feeling powerless as to how to alleviate chronic stress and resolve ongoing issues. Recent data shows that mental health referrals have risen by as much as 300% in the last 5 years, leadership and wellbeing programmes are acknowledged as being only partially effective, and surveys indicate that health workers themselves are struggling to cope with workloads and pressures.
We all know that fresh thinking and innovative solutions are required to be able to solve these challenges, both now and in the future.
But what if positive, sustainable change in these areas could be simpler than we think? What if a new, more hopeful understanding of what lies at the root of all of these challenges could be grasped and leveraged to bring about real, lasting change in a way that truly works for all?
In this Leading with Influence Series, we will continue to take a fresh look at the challenges facing society today - specifically in the field of mental health - and explore a simple but profound new foundation of understanding from which to more easily resolve these challenges while retaining the professionals that we need to do so.
Join Susan Andrewes for the second event in this pioneering series of talks over the course of the year, in which leaders, professionals and organisations working to make a difference in their field are invited to look beyond conventional thinking and discover how, with a radically new framework of understanding, the most difficult challenges facing our country today can be solved more simply, effortlessly and rapidly.
This event will be of value to business leaders and HR professionals, mental health workers, crisis management consultants, education specialists and anyone working to create a better future for New Zealanders.
