In this class, you will learn the basic functions of your sewing machine. You will learn to wind a bobbin, thread the machine, sew different types of stitches, turn corners, and follow instructions to make a project.
Attendees will complete a simple potholder project that they go home with.
You will walk away from the class with a functioning knowledge of using a sewing machine, as well as your own homemade heat pack!
Attendees should bring their machine from home if they have one. If not, you can use one that belongs to the makerspace.
This class needs a minimum of 2 attendee to run
Open to ages 12 and up (under 18 must be accompanied by parent/guardian)

Instructor Bio:
Rae is a lifelong sewer and designer. They are committed to making sewing and garment design accessible to people who are often left out of the fashion world, such as plus size women, disabled people, and trans people. Rae has a service dog, Bea, who is the love their life. Oh, they're also in a committed relationship with the other love of their life, Michael, who is, in fact, human.
Masks are encouraged.
