Overview

This training equips mental health clinicians with practical tools for ethical, protective clinical documentation with marginalized clients

This training equips mental health clinicians with practical tools for ethical, protective clinical documentation when working with marginalized and vulnerable populations.

Participants learn how to apply the HIPAA Minimum Necessary Standard to sensitive topics such as gender-affirming care, immigration-related stress, diverse family structures, reproductive healthcare, and trauma, while maintaining clinical accuracy and supporting medical necessity. Through case examples and interactive rewrite exercises, clinicians practice transforming common documentation habits into clear, respectful, and risk-aware notes that protect client dignity and reduce unnecessary legal exposure. The training emphasizes that ethical documentation is not about documenting less, but about documenting intentionally to support both effective care and client safety.

This training is NASW/CT approved for 2 cultural competency CEC's.
