Communication in Public Radio: A Behind-the-Scenes Guide

About the Program: There are a lot of moving parts that go into making a radio station run. Debra and Ellie highlight how KMUW works behind the scenes to create local programming and build community relationships.

About Our Speakers:
Debra Fraser is the general manager of KMUW and passionate about bringing the story of Wichita to local listeners and to the world. She joined the station in 2014 transferring from Houston Public Media where she served as the station manager and chief operating officer. Debra spent 25 years as a public radio reporter, news director and station manager learning the business from the ground up.
Ellie Keppy has been a sales professional with the KMUW sponsorship team for 8 years. She moved from meat to public media after 26 years at Cargill to find a career that added back to the community. Ellie has managed sales and marketing teams, sold millions of tons of meat and bought just as many. When she left Cargill, she was managing customer service for the newly started pet treats business. All great training for public radio and building relationships in our community.

This monthly meeting will take place in person from 11:30 am to 1 pm, Wednesday, June 5 at Larkspur Bistro, 904 E. Douglas Ave., 67202.

Ticket price includes buffet lunch and water, coffee or tea.
