About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

This training will focus on the foundational tenets of Buddhist Psychology that can be applied to clinical practice. These principles and interventions are very practical and do not require an adherence to a particular philosophy. These principles represent universal themes that make a distinction between pain and suffering and highlight how we can use mindfulness to down regulate our nervous system and create more resiliency and equanimity.

3 CEs available to NYS LMHCs, LMFTs, LCSWs, LMSWs, LCATs, NYS Licensed Psychologists and NYS Licensed Psychoanalysts provided by Hudson Valley Professional Development, LLC upon successful completion of training.

Objectives:

Upon completion of the training, participants will:

-gain a Buddhist understanding of how the mind works.

-understand the basic tenets of Mindfulness and its effectiveness practice.

-differentiate mindfulness strategies based on clinical challenges.

-learn to apply 6 interventions on how to down regulate the nervous system.

-learn how to activate The Witness Self as a core tool for growing equanimity.

-learn the concept of The Second Arrow and how to mitigate suffering.

-learn how to help clients in the release of self limiting narratives.

In accordance with the NY State Department of Education guidelines, in order to receive continuing education contact hours, a participant needs to be present for the duration of the workshop/training. Therefore, participants who arrive late or leave the event early will not be granted a certificate of completion.
