A webinar  presentation by the Indiana Historical Society - Building Community: LGBTQ+ Spaces in Indianapolis

Join fellow AIA members, sponsors, invited guests and the general public for this informative webinar focusing on architecture and society, how it shapes culture, and how we can protect it. Hear first from Indiana Historical Society Architectural Archivist Jordan Ryan on the the creation, cultivation and importance of historical spaces (both lost to time and still around the city) by minority groups. Then Meg Purnsley, administrator for the Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission (IHPC) will speak to how this research is impacting Indianapolis’ efforts to protect culturally important spaces across the city, through the "Preserve Indy Initiative." As part of the initiative, the IHPC will update the 17 historic area plans to include an inventory of approximately 104 LGBTQ historically significant sites located in these areas.
