CLASS DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this class is to help each actor master their audition, online, and self-taping skills for stronger and more successful film, television and theatrical auditions. Work on how to best apply your creative talent and training for in-person an self-taped auditions. Work on clear evaluation of audition material, making strong creative choices for the character and type of project, elimination of nervous habits and “crutches”, and honest performances.

The audition process will be covered from start to finish with work on career development and professionalism in addition to work on the creative process:

• Using your professional tools effectively – pictures, resumes, demo reels, etc.

• Creating a successful audition from the moment you walk in the door or begin recording

• Mastering pre-reads, cold readings, call-backs and screen tests

• Staying relaxed and confident, avoiding common mistakes and awkward situations

• Research and Preparation

• Handling and taking direction, making adjustments

• Self taping your audition

• Follow-ups, handling feedback and callbacks

Each participant will prepare a self-taped audition each week before class, that will be evaluated and critiqued by your instructor. In class, work will continue on your prepared material as well as new material. Actors who are preparing for an audition are encouraged to work on their audition material in class.


CLASS SIZE: Limited to 8 participating students.

INSTRUCTOR: Alison McBryde has been teaching and coaching for over 15 years. Her current and past students have had lead and featured roles in numerous movies including "Lee Daniel's The Butler," "Silver Linings Playbook," "Steve Jobs," "The Lovely Bones," and "Miami Vice." They have appeared as series regulars, recurring and guest-starring roles in television series, which include: "Blue Bloods," "Turn: Washington's Spies," "Gotham," "Grey's Anatomy," "The Blacklist," and "Law & Order: SVU."
