Lille Rode is the creation of singer/songwriter and former actress
Anna Mountford, sounding something like Wolf Alice meets Chappell Roan.
Having starred in Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express in her teens, Mountford went on to become a regular fixture on British tv in shows like Holby City, Silent Witness, The Giblet Boys and Jack of Hearts. She began writing songs in 2010 following a career move to LA as a way to voice her reaction to living and working in Hollywood. Upon her return to the UK in 2015 her track Meteorite was included in a Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition playlist. Most recently her song Run Away was featured on BBC Introducing in the West.
“In an era defined by political chaos, toxic social dynamics, and systemic misogyny, Lille Rode isn’t just observing the madness—she’s hunting it”.
Playing on fairy tale origins, the name is Danish for "Little Red”. The songs flirt with the radical notion of slaying metaphorical wolves. The music serves as an unflinching post-mortem of career-spanning trauma, dissecting heavy personal and societal themes with a razor-sharp edge.
Musically and lyrically, Lille Rode strikes a rare, compelling balance. Serving up an eclectic mix of cinematic darkness side-by-side with a defiant, satirical wit; the sonic equivalent of a winky face emoji sent from the edge of the abyss.
