Experience Latin American musical traditions reimagined by Colectivo SUR, an emerging six-member ensemble whose music reflects the diverse cultural identities of its members.

Drawing from styles ranging from cumbia to Andean music, Colectivo SUR creates a contemporary sound using traditional instruments including the Venezuelan cuatro, charango, jaranas and quena. Influenced by the Nueva Canción movement, the collective’s work is rooted in social awareness, collective storytelling and cultural exchange. Through its performances, Colectivo SUR honours important figures and movements in Latin American music while engaging with the region’s present-day realities.

Presented as part of ¡Así Suena!, VLAFF’s free courtyard concert series, this performance invites audiences to listen, connect and experience how musical traditions travel, transform and bring communities together across cultures and generations. No festival ticket or VLAFF membership is required. Snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase or by donation. Everyone is welcome!

Registration is encouraged and helps us estimate attendance, but it is not required. This RSVP does not reserve a seat. Admission is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to courtyard capacity. You do not need to print or present an Eventbrite ticket.
