Third World Newsreel (TWN)has advanced movement storytelling and media arts for cultural and social justice since 1968. We champion the self-representation of historically marginalized communities—including Black, Latine, Indigenous, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern, North African, Mixed/Multiracial, People with Disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ individuals—through diverse genres and forms of media, such as documentary, experimental, and fiction. Our aim is to facilitate their efforts to create, engage, and amplify their stories, propelling audiences to action.Our seminars and workshops have trained thousands of BIPOC filmmakers over 5 decades. TWN sponsors a free series of in-person and virtual workshops on various production topics aimed particularly at emerging media makers of color, in the spring and fall.

What questions do you have for a working DP? Whether it's what is a favorite camera to a favorite lighting instrument, how to prep to talk to a producer, to what essentials to have in one's kit, bring your questions April 9th to our seminar with Director of Photography Henry Adebonojo. If you have a question ready to go, we will send you a form to submit a question once you RSVP. Henry Adebonojo is a Philadelphia based cinematographer and photographer with a twenty five year background in creating images and films. His work spans a variety of genres and pursuits - Documentary films, Promos and Commercials, Music Videos and various other Television projects. These include the Academy Award nominated documentary "I Am Not Your Negro" and the Emmy nominated "Half Past Autumn" for Magnolia Pictures and HBO respectively.
