Founded in 1906, Children’s Institute (CII) is the largest agency of its kind working to transform the lives of children exposed to adversity and poverty in Los Angeles. By providing early education, behavioral health and family strengthening services, Children's Institute reaches 26,000 children and families annually in communities where support is needed most. CII also leads the way in trauma-informed care and evidence-based clinical treatment by training thousands of professionals and caregivers throughout the year.

.5k Underachiever Race & Canned Food Drive with Boomtown Brewery

Thursday, Nov 8th from 6-9 PM
Description: In honor of Thanksgiving, the Children’s Institute is collecting non-perishable “thanksgiving” food items to secure and distribute to our children and families receiving services in our most underserved communities.  With Boomtown Brewery’s Support, we will be hosting our first .5k Underachiever race & canned food drive!
Goals: Support everyone in completing this very difficult course of .5k (0.31 miles, or 1,640.42 feet. That's roughly the length of three New York City subway trains), BUT most importantly support our children and families by providing the necessary traditional Thanksgiving ingredients to help them overachieve an excellent Thanksgiving.
Registration Fees: In the spirit of Thanksgiving we’re asking for either a <A HREF="https://www.childrensinstitute.org/?post_type=event&p=10611&preview=true" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="Registration Fee Portal" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">financial contribution of $30 </A>and/or a Harvest Bag of canned foods comprised of mac & cheese (6 oz box), Gravy Mix/Can, Dry Mashed Potatoes Box, 1 Stuffing Mix (Turkey), canned cranberry sauce (14 oz), canned corn & green beans, and a gift card of $15 (i.e. Food 4 Less/ Target) to purchase a turkey or ham. 
What’s Included: A completed Harvest Bag worth $30/registration includes your first beer. Finishers will also receive a CII 0.5k sticker to wear afterward to photograph in glory and share with their community of supporters!
Added Bonus: In case runners get tired, a coffee and donut station will be set up at the halfway point for carb-loading and energy. This is also the designated smoking area.
We will see you at the starting line!
