SAMASAMA Family Day: Yoga, Painting & Stenciling 

Soul & Ink's participatory live screen printing experiences reshape traditional relationships between art and audiences.We provide a fun, interactive art experience at events and can activate any space with our mobile screen printing unit, ink, apparel and custom designs. Our dream is to create artwork that can be shared with anyone, anywhere.Through modern aesthetic and vintage technique, we merge Soul & Ink.

Join us for a family-friendly day of fun and exploration through movement and making at <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/shopkeepersdc/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Shopkeepers</A>!
12-1 PM | Family Yoga by Instructor <A HREF="http://www.liferichmama.com" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Lauren Frazier</A> All ages and levels welcome. Lauren can also show you ways to incorporate baby into a yoga routine. It's a great bonding experience not just with baby, but with your parent community. Bring a mat or let us know if you need us to bring one for you.  
2-3:30 PM | Stencil Workshop by Artists <A HREF="http://www.shanishih.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Shani Shih</A> & <A HREF="http://www.cigarboxplanetarium.com/index.html" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Deanna Pineda </A>Transform the way you see the world. Want to make stencils that are uniquely you and be able to repeat the mark over and over again? You will begin to develop the skill to see shapes and shadows that create compelling designs. Learn the basics of stenciling on paper and fabric. Bring your own favorite t-shirt to experiment with! Parents, we will be using exacto knives, so participants should be able to use them or you can cut for them. 
 
4-5:30 PM | Painting Workshop by Artist <A HREF="https://www.filamartistdirectory.com/ashley-dequilla/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ashley Daquilla</A>
Self exploration through painting. No experience painting? No problem! Learn something new. Intuitive painting will be emphasized over technical ability, relying on color theory and painting for the sake of pure expression. 
 
Sound selection upstairs in the boutique by <A HREF="http://lestalusan.com" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Pin Striped Rebel</A>.
 Food and beverage by <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/maketto1351/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Maketto</A> will be available for purchase.

Walk-ins are welcome just register at the door. Feel free to soak in the vibes! Peruse the shop, enjoy the food and view the gallery.

Do I need to REGISTER to attend?
Yes, due to limited space, we ask all guests register in advance of the event. If you cannot later attend, please update your RSVP so other guests can. Free to register, ticket required.

<A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/soulandinkcrew/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Soul & Ink</A> and <A HREF="http://lestalusan.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Batang Kankaloo</A> present the 2nd Annual SAMASAMA Art Show & Gathering, a volunteer run exhibition held in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May at Shopkeepers. This show will present original work by artists of color from diaspora communities.
The term SAMASAMA means all together in Tagalog. Bayanihan is a Filipino custom derived from the Tagalog word bayan, meaning community. The theme of the exhibit is Bayanihan, which refers to the spirit of communal unity, work, and cooperation to achieve a particular goal.
