<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>In the realm of immersive theatre, authenticity is of the highest value. In the close-quarters of the form, audiences can see an actor's every thought and feeling. There is nowhere for the performer to hide. This situation demands a new level of radical honesty from the immersive actor.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>The acting techniques of <STRONG>Sanford Meisner</STRONG> have been used for years to strip away artifice and create spontaneity onstage. Applying these techniques (and others inspired by Meisner's work) has become the house style for Capital W in <I>Hamlet-Mobile </I>and their other work.<BR>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>In this one-day workshop, Capital W artistic director Lauren Ludwig (https://www.laurenludwig.com) will give participants on-their-feet exercises and instruction in Meisner-inspired techniques. We will explore how to apply these tools to the specific needs of the immersive world, exploring topics like: creating performances without artifice; successful improvisation between actor and audience; and improvisation as a means to text and script generation.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>No previous exposure to Meisner's techniques is necessary. If you do have prior experience, this workshop will illuminate new ways to apply his technique to the immersive form. Participants should come ready to move and participate in exercises.</DIV>
