Howdy river rats. It’s with a heavy heart we have to announce that the September 23rd, 2023 Kawsmouth River Carnival is cancelled. Although there isn’t a consensus amongst all of the forecasts for tomorrow, there is a definite chance of rain and thunderstorms in the evening. We worry that these conditions will make the River Carnival unsafe for the participants and we can’t, in good conscience, ask people to participate in an event we worry will be dangerous.If the weather ends up changing tomorrow, we encourage you to go enjoy the lovely water ways around Kc! The Kawsmouth River Carnival will return bigger, wackier, and with even more fun in early summer 2024! Thank you everyone for your support and we hope to be out in the water with you all soon! CANCELLEDAhoy! Calling all river rats, wingnuts, adventurers, makers, paddlers, and pirates! We invite you to come and join the Kawsmouth River Carnival out on the Missouri River, on September 23rd, 2023! The River Carnival is an absurdly fun and playful mardi-gras style Art boat parade on the Missouri River! On event day, bring out your finest decorated boat- canoe, kayak, fishing boat (of any variety or DIY built trash boat) and join the parade! The more fun, the better! We ensure this will be one of the greatest spectacles on the Missouri River this year! The parade will go from Kaw Point Park boat ramp to Riverfront park boat ramp and end in a celebration with live music by THIMASTR and prizes. If you prefer to just spectate- follow the parade on your bicycle on the adjacent riverfront trail. This is a FREE event, where anyone can attend, with unlimitied capacity.RULES:- Life Jacket required. Safety is key! Designated safety boats will be present to assist if needed.- Motors allowed, make sure all decor is secure and will not fall into the river.Trashboat requirements:Build a trash boat out of any salvaged materials. Your boat can be powered any way that will get you there- it can be paddled, bicycle pedal powered, or trolling motor etc.Boat requirements:All types of watercraft are welcomed so bring out your canoes, kayaks, jet ski, or motor boats. We encourage you to alter &amp; decorate your watercraft into a festive Carnival style river boat.EVENT DETAILS:3pm-5pm meet at Kaw Point Park Boat Ramp (39.116032, -94.612142) to assemble final decoration and launch your boat.
