About Evelyn & Derrick Lopez

Evelyn and Derrick Lopez are an international teaching duo known for their heartfelt approach to Brazilian Zouk, blending artistry, musicality, and authentic expression to create meaningful dance experiences.

Born in Transylvania and raised in the Netherlands, Evelyn discovered Brazilian Zouk in 2006 and has been teaching and inspiring dancers for over 20 years. She has dedicated her life to exploring its endless creative possibilities.

Her artistic videos have inspired thousands of dancers around the world, encouraging many to begin their own Zouk journey while opening new conversations about creativity, flow, and authentic expression within the Brazilian Zouk community.

Her passion lies in helping dancers move with confidence, body awareness, creativity, and authenticity. Through her warm and encouraging teaching style, she invites students to connect more deeply to themselves, the music, and their partners.

Originally from Hawaii, Derrick brings the rhythm and freedom of B-Boying, House, and Hip Hop into his movement. Inspired by improvisation, nature, and the loving energy of the islands, he creates a dance that is grounded, playful, and full of life. Since discovering Brazilian Zouk in 2017, he has seamlessly blended his urban dance roots with the artistry and connection of partner dancing.

Together, Evelyn & Derrick create a welcoming space where dancers of every level can feel comfortable exploring, growing, and expressing themselves. Their classes blend strong fundamentals with creativity, musicality, and joyful connection, encouraging every student to discover their own unique flow while experiencing the beauty of dancing from the heart.
