Overview

Join a ranger to see how many species of animals we can find at Holyrood in 2 hours, in honour of Sir David Attenborough's 100th birthday!

Event: Zoo Quest

Time: 13:00-15:30, Walk duration is approx. 2 hours with extra time allocated for delays.

Meeting Place: Broad Pavement Car Park, Queen's Drive. Postcode: EH8 8AZ. Meeting point is next to the entrance of the car park on the grass verge opposite the car park kiosk.

Description: From slugs to swans, moths to moles, Holyrood Park is home to an amazing variety of animals. Come and join the rangers to see how many different species we can find in 2 hours. Inspired by the great naturalist Sir David Attenborough, who turned 100 yesterday!

Age: This walk may not be suitable for children under 7 years.

Grade: Moderate

Route: Hunter’s Bog/Volunteers’ Walk/Camstane/Hutton's Section area. This may change.

Bring: Warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear with good grips. A snack and a drink.

Toilets: Toilets are available at the Holyrood Park Education Centre (EH8 8HG). No toilets on the walk itself.

Parking: Broad Pavement Car Park (off Queen's Drive, next to Holyrood Palace). Parking charges are £1 per hour. Charges apply 08:30 to 17:30 Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays). Parking is free for Blue Badge holders. 55°57'03.9"N 3°10'09.8"W - Google Maps

Road Closures: Holyrood Park roads are closed every Saturday and Sunday.

Local roads and car parks may be subject to closures-please contact the Ranger Service for more information at rangers@hes.scot or 0131 652 8150.

Disabled access: Route may not suitable for disabled people – route contains rough tracks, uneven and boggy terrain, steep inclines and declines. Please contact the Ranger Service for more information.

Dogs: Dogs are not permitted except assistance dogs.
