What is a Zine?

A zine is a publication that is typically produced without the goal of making a profit. Zines are made out of a need for expression or a desire to communicate ideas. Some zines are poetry or prose, some are cartoons, photographs, or collages. Some zines may be professionally printed, while others were run through the photo copier. Either way, they're a beautiful canvas for the expression of the creator.

About Tellus Zine:

Tellus Zine is a digital publication, led by an all-youth editorial board, showcasing visual art and creative writing by young adults from across Greater Cincinnati. Tellus’s mission is to provide a platform for young people to express themselves bravely and creatively as a part of our diverse community.

About Zinecinnati:

Zinecinnati welcomes zinesters, alt comix creators, poets, self-publishers, and book/paper artists from all over (and beyond) the Cincinnati area. Zinecinnati is a place intended for these creators and artists to meet one another, experience one another's work, promote their work, and share ideas and stories. Zinecinnati does not promote censorship of any kind, however we do encourage family-friendly events.

Lauren & Tom founded Zinecinnati after visiting zine and small press events in other cities and meeting Cincinnatians. Why wasn't there an event in our hometown when there was obviously a community? Tom has been creating comics since he could hold a pencil and Lauren has been telling stories since she could talk. They live in Bellevue, KY with their newborn and their pets.
