Zine Jamming

About this event

  • Event lasts 5 hours

This one-day intensive workshop will provide comprehensive instruction on how to make a zine. Whether you are an experienced zinester, or you are opening another tab right now to search "what is a zine," you will walk away from this workshop with new skills. We will cover the basics of putting together a zine, discuss different methods and approaches, and provide instruction for distributing your zines. Attendees will connect to the larger zine community, and find out about zine happenings around the Bay Area. Mostly, we will make zines!

Over the course of five hours, attendees will have the space, materials, and guidance needed to walk away with 1-2 finished zines. This event will skew toward a fast-paced surrealist approach that utilizes collage methodologies, but all zine-making practices are welcome. Several experienced zinesters representing a variety of styles and techniques will be available to ensure ample hands-on instruction.

If you're in need of a little push to get out of your head and just make stuff, this is the event for you. If you've been sitting on an idea for a zine for months or years, this is the event for you. If you're looking to make friends and form community with other queer zinesters, this is the event for you!

    What's included with your ticket:

You will have access to a wealth of materials and supplies, as well as hands-on support from workshop facilitators. Additionally, snacks and beverages will be provided to keep you nourished during the workshop. Full meals will not be provided, so please plan accordingly.
