Turn spontaneous moments into scripted gold! Zero to Show: Using Improv for Sketch Scripted Comedy is a full-day creative sprint where you and new friends will use improv techniques to develop and perform a brand-new sketch comedy show—all in a single day—culminating in a live performance that evening at Big Couch.

This experience is part of Big Couch’s growing educational and creative offerings, designed to give improvisers new ways to stretch their skills and try something fresh. No sketch writing or acting experience is required. Bring your passion for play!

Requirements

Zero to Show is open to anyone with at least three levels of improv experience. It consists of one session from 10 am to 5 pm at Big Couch's Bywater location at 1045 Desire St., New Orleans, LA 70117. At the culmination of the course, attendees will put on an evening improv show the same day at 7:30 pm.

10:00 AM – 6:00 PM: Workshop & Show Creation with a one-hour lunch break

7:30 PM: Live Performance at Big Couch

About the Instructor

Carly Stroud has been improvising since 2005 and performing even longer! She studied at The Second City and deepened her training through their online curriculum during the pandemic. Carly helped establish her college improv troupe, Lincoln’s Security Detail, and later co-founded Capital City Improv in Springfield, IL with her husband, Drew. Since moving to New Orleans, Carly has become a core player at Big Couch, performing with troupes like Nerd Night, Cheers!, Sorry We’re Singing, and her favorite—We’re Partners.
