About this event

Youth Summer Camp - Learn to Make a Short Film!

Get your kids ready for a fun-filled summer camp where they can learn how to make a short film!

Our camp is perfect for youth aged 10-to-17 years-old who love to be creative and want to learn new skills.

  • During the camp, students will learn how to create a storyboard, write a script, shoot footage, and edit their film using professional software.
  • They'll work collaboratively with their peers to create a story based on Comstock history from conception to completion.
  • Our experienced instructors and professional filmmakers will guide them through the entire process, from start to finish.
  • At the end of the Summer Camp, your child will have a completed short film to show off to friends and family, or to submit in the first ever Fourth Ward School Museum Film Festival in September!

Check out the short film created by our film students in a previous year, called the "Note of Sutro" in the video below!

The camp meets twice a week for two weeks on Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning on July 15, 2024. Each of the sessions runs from 11 AM to 4 PM and is located at the Historic Fourth Ward School Museum in Virginia City, NV.

This is a great opportunity for your kids to learn new skills, make new friends, dive into their local history and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.

Tuition is $20 per student. Please reserve your child's spot through Eventbrite or by contacting the museum directly.

Note that equipment, light snacks and refreshments will be provided but that students are responsible for their own transportation and lunch.
