Event Details

The fourth-annual Charles Johnson Foundation Sports Academy & Community Weekend welcomes athletes of all skill levels in grades 1-12. With free clinics in basketball, dance, tennis, football and cheer, there is an opportunity for everyone to improve their skills.

Charles Johnson is a native of Hawkinsville, Ga. and a proud alumnus of Hawkinsville High School. After attending the University of Georgia where he was named to the Second Team All-SEC as a star defensive end, Charles was drafted by the Carolina Panthers of the NFL in 2007.

Through eight professional seasons, Charles has received All-Pro recognition on the strength of 62.5 career sacks, placing him among the premier pass rushers in the league and now second on the Panthers all-time sack leaders list.

The Charles Johnson Foundation Sports Academy & Community Weekend is Charles’ opportunity to give back to Middle Georgia youth and teach them life and team-building skills, particularly in encouraging them to achieve their dreams, and saying no to negative influences and peer pressure.

Throughout the weekend, Charles will be joined by many of his NFL and NBA player friends to coach and mentor the participants. The Sports Academy & Community Weekend is a FREE event. Each youth participant must be registered by his or her parents or legal guardian.

Join us Friday, June 19 - Saturday, June 20 at Hawkinsville High School for a fun family event! A big thank you to those who joined us in previous years - we look forward to seeing you again in 2015!
