About this event

This is a 1-day, virtual Youth Mental Health First Aid Training hosted via Zoom. Times shared in the Agenda section are in Pacific Standard Time but all time zones are welcome.

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is directed towards identifying the signs and symptoms of mental illness in adolescents and young adults. You will leave this training with a Certification from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing (as long as all pre and post-work is completed). First-responders, college students, teachers, parents, mentors and others supporting youth are highly encouraged to receive this training and certification.

Just as physical First Aid and CPR help you to assist others, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. Mental Health First Aiders will be guided through a 5-step Action Plan for recognizing warning signs of mental health or substance use challenges. You will also know how to provide help in crisis and non-crisis situations, and understand where to turn for additional assistance.

Required Pre-Event Steps & Notes:

1) You will be required to RSVP to a calendar invite with the event link. Remember to check your spam folders!

2) Your pre-work modules #1-9 are due by the start of your training. Failure to complete this will result in you being unenrolled from the course and unable to attend the Instructor-led session. You will not receive a refund if you are dis-enrolled due to incomplete pre-work. If you are dis-enrolled from the course and re-enrolled in a future course, you will need to restart your evaluations and pre-work.

3) Reschedule Risk & Instructor Notes: This training will be cancelled and you will be offered other date options if less than 4 participants are registered. Additionally, the Instructor may change if an availability shift happens and you will be notified via email if so.

4) If Registering Under 3 Days From Event: If you are registering under 72 hours from the start of the training, our team works standard 9am-5pm weekly hours on Pacific Standard Time and it may take time to receive your pre-work access, particularly around a weekend. Please be patient and plan your schedule accordingly as a last minute sign up.
